Now days there is a lot of talk about restaurants, some being dives ? what makes a restaurant a dive and who decides that fact that it is a dive ? Also would your status in wealth determine what you would consider a dive ? Would Donald Trump consider the local popular 5 star steak house a dive ?

I always thought it meant some seedy place I wouldn't want to go to. Places where people fight with broken beer bottles.

A common term here is "beer joint" for the little drinking places. Maybe a dive has to have some sort of menu?

Vietnamese food is the best. There are a bunch of those places around here.
